Lithuanian & Polish operators “tested” German marinas on the spot

In April 2015, the MARRIAGE seminars for Lithuanian and Polish marina operators were rounded up with a study trip to leisure boat ports on Rügen / DE. After Till Jaich from the German company "im jaich" had publically “tested” marinas in the South Coast Baltic in 2013 and 2014, he now had to pass a “reserve testing visit” at his own harbours in Lauterbach & Gustow. Furthermore, the participants visited “Hafendorf Wiek” in the northern part of the island. The reviewers unanimously came to the conclusion that the facilities and services of all three marinas deserve highest marks and that they got a lot of new inspirations for their own operations.

After this final event of the competence development programme, the participants were asked about their lessons learned. The follow up survey revealed that they increasingly pay attention to the small details, which turn a harbour into a convenient place to stay. For example, it seems that “red / green” berth occupancy plates are on the way to become a widespread standard along the South Coast Baltic. At least 20 marinas introduced concrete improvements as a direct result of the seminars.
