Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship

Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship is responsible for developing tourism in the region. Its tourism office has a qualified team of 5 employees. One of its main objectives is to promote water tourism, for which no regional strategy exists so far despite an extensive marina network and good potentials. With MARRIAGE, the tourist department of the Marshall Office starts regional water tourism marketing. It will build on the marinas network and integrate the region into the southern Baltic rim as cross-border boating area in the same step, in order to attract foreign boaters. The focus is both on filling basis gaps (marketing strategy, fair visits) as well as innovative / international measures (journalist tours, boating app, visit of German fairs etc.). Furthermore, it implements a regional training programme on marina management, including PPP aspects. The Marshal Office is leader cross-border task leader for common fair visits in Poland and fam trips for international journalists.

Szczecin Municipal Government

Szczecin Municipal Government

The City of Szczecin has a well-established maritime profile and is one of the most attractive destinations for sailors in the southern Baltic rim. There are several marinas existing, but still insufficient capacities to serve the high demand from residents and guests. This is way a new marina on Grodzka Island in the city centre will open in 2012, when Szczecin also hosts the Tall Ship Race. Within MARRIAGE, the City of Szczecin advances its marina management skills and intensifies marketing towards boaters from the southern Baltic rim. It participates in the international exchange and closely cooperates with the Marshal Office in the marketing activities under the MARRIAGE umbrella. Furthermore, it drafts a concept for developing a network of complementary guest-only boater stops in the Szczecin lagoon, which should help to resolve the current capacity problems. It will be based on the experiences with the concept of “Wasserwanderrastplätze” in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern / Germany.

The Port Authority of Kolobrzeg

The Port Authority of Kolobrzeg

Kolobrzeg is a major seaside resort. Its marina is operated by the port authority. It is an important, network-relevant port that attracts foreign and especially German sailors travelling along the southern Baltic rim. The marina has currently 50 berths. After a major reconstruction and extension that is finished in autumn 2011, it will provide 30 more moorings and new sanitary / public facilities. Concrete plans for further extensions exist, but their realisation is uncertain due to lack of public funding. Through MARRIAGE, the Port Authority of Kolobrzeg expects to advance skills and to gain new inspirations for marketing, management and operation of its marina. It takes part in the exchange on development / operation of marinas in PPP, the training programme and is subject to a “marina testing visit”. Furthermore, it participates in common promotion activities in order to attract new customers and implements a pilot for a Web 2.0 based boater information kiosk.
